College Night

Make a Reservation to Teach on Your Own
Make a reservation to bring your class to the Getty Center. If you would like a visit facilitated by Museum staff, see "Facilitated Visits" below.

You may also call (310) 440-7300 and tell the reservations agent the date and time of your visit, the number of students, and the number of parking spaces needed. If sufficient group parking is available for that date, your parking fees ($15 per car) will be waived. Bus parking can be arranged, but is limited.
Teaching in the Galleries
Please obtain an "Educator" badge before conducting class discussions in the galleries. Be prepared to show valid instructor identification. Please limit teaching in the galleries to groups of 25 or fewer students.

Facilitated Visits
College and university faculty may arrange a visit facilitated by Museum educators. These visits are tailored to the needs and interests of faculty and students and complement classroom learning. To get the most out of these opportunities, faculty should submit a College/University Visits at the Getty Center Request Form (PDF, 498 KB) contact us at least one month in advance of the preferred date for the visit. A representative of the education department will contact the professor to discuss the visit in more detail, including which artworks the students will view at the Museum and the goals of the instructor. In addition to a single visit, we welcome proposals for multiple visits by a class, sessions in Museum study rooms, and workshops with Museum staff and practicing artists.

Getty Villa Programs for College Students and Faculty
College and university faculty are encouraged to bring their classes to the Getty Villa. Faculty may teach in the galleries or make special arrangements for a visit facilitated by Villa staff.
College Night at the Getty Villa
The Villa hosts an after-hours college night every fall. College nights offer students and faculty access to Museum galleries, special exhibitions, conservation labs, and a special look at Mr. Getty's Ranch House. Enjoy music, food and drink, and conversation with staff from all four programs of the Getty Trust.

Theater Education Programs
College and university faculty may bring their students to performances of ancient drama in the Villa Auditorium and the Barbara and Lawrence Fleischman Outdoor Classical Theater. All education performances include a talkback with production staff in which students and faculty may engage writers, directors, actors, and others in discussion. A limited number of tickets is available for education performances. Please call Villa Education at (310) 440-7660 for more information about theater education programming for college and university audiences.

College Group Reservations
Make a reservation to bring your class to the Getty Villa. If you would like a visit facilitated by Villa staff, see "Facilitated Visits" below.
Reservations are available for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The parking fee is waived. Bus reservations are available, but are limited.

Facilitated Visits
College and university faculty may arrange a visit facilitated by Villa staff. These visits are tailored to the needs and interests of faculty and students. Options include gallery talks and workshops with Museum staff, multiple visits, the use of a seminar room, and storeroom visits. Storeroom visits, which provide an opportunity to look at objects not currently on view with the guidance of a curator, are limited to 15 visitors and arrangements must be made at least three months in advance.
