Speaking of paper cutters, if you get the opportunity to upgrade your paper cutter, I purchased a rotary paper cutter called Rotatrim made by Alvin. It is wonderful!!!!
I got the 36". It has a grid on the base, is mobile, cannot cut off fingers, and doesn't get dull. The only negative is that you can't (or I don't) cut cardboard, mattboard, or linoleum with it. I save those things to use with the old "guillatine" style cutter.
Years ago, when I needed a new cutter, I wrote a letter to the school board expressing my safety concerns over my old cutter, and telling them what I wanted to purchase. Ends up, they had a fund for upgrading equipment for safety and ergonomic reasons so they paid for me to get the new cutter. You might give that a try where you are.
Since that time I have worked at 2 two other schools and purchased this Rotatrim and it is wonderful and well worth the initial $$$$ of about $300-350. Smaller sizes are cheaper.
